Do a Little Good Today

"A man filled with the love of God is not content with blessing his family alone, but ranges through the whole world, anxious to bless the whole human race." --Joseph SmithI realized today that I am blessed. Blessed to have a wonderful family. Blessed to live in a free country. Blessed to have a warm place to sleep. Blessed with an education. Blessed with comforts that I take take for granted daily. Blessed to live now and to be part of a great work.

I spent the afternoon at the LDS Humanitarian Center learning about our responsiblities related to the assembly of 7500 newborn kits during Women's Conference. Let me just say this--anyone who has interest in mankind--anyone who wants to see goodness in action MUST visit this amazing place. It has a spirit that cannot be described in words. There are towers of 1000 lb. clothing bales, training groups, literacy programs, and missionaries at every turn. This was my second visit and we will be going back with our "teams" in March. As our small group sat to view the short film they share, we each grabbed a box of tissues and watched the power of Christ's example in action. It was inspiring. I think the four of us used an entire box of tissues in the 15 minutes we spent in the room. Newborn babies wrapped in newpaper. Can you imagine? I thought of little Max and his soft clean blankets and that's when I lost it. There are people in this world who give. There are people like blind Zina Mae who quilts by feel with the hope that with her quilts she can show her love.

Take a minute to read this sweet story. Just an example of how one person can make a difference.

Do a little good today. Just a little.

wow, i think that is so amazing. i have never visited there, but i would really like to after you described how wonderful it is. it's good to see people doing so many good things. lately i've had a bit of a fire lit under my tusch to get up and do something good. so i've decided to look into mentoring! i'm very excited. i'm just waiting on an email for the next step. i know you're probably thinking this is more disasterous than good, but i'm doing it nonetheless! :->
