The Blanket Game Forever
Now that XTravaganza has returned to the world of unlimited battery operation, I'm getting caught up on some photography projects that have been awaiting my attention. I couldn't exactly tell you when my photography and memory preservation kick started. I would assume that it had something to do with Lori and her example. The more I document my own life and attempt to resurrect photos from the Virtue family archives, the more I'm convinced that our lives are enhanced and our memories kept sweet by the photos we take and the feelings that those photos evoke.
So, this afternoon in the perfect light of a cloud covered Sunday, I managed to make my way through a stack of old photos that have been hidden from public (and private for that matter) viewing. This week you'll probably be seeing a series of "walking down memory lane" posts. Some of the photos of yours truly are absolutely awful, but I suppose that even puberty should be documented. It certainly makes me more grateful for my 30 year old self. As I see it, I'm like a fine wine. . .just getting better with age.
Any Virtue care to comment on the following pictures? I think you'll all remember a little family activity called the "blanket game." For those not privey to the ways of the Virtue madness, let me explain. 4 people would get under a large blanket on the floor and one or two people would be on the outside. The purpose of the game was to see if you could get "under the blanket" with the original 4. It's really a ridiculous game. I think the Mayor was the original creator. The thing is that I remember it as a sweet time when we were together without the distractions of television, cell phones, or computers. It was simply us--laughing and building a memory.
The next time we're all home together, I'll be expecting a little round of the Blanket Game. I hope everyone is up to it.
These are the days.
