Les Miserables

We went to Les Miserables last night. It was beautiful--far exceeding my expections (which were high). I have read the book (abridged, of course) and seen the movie, but nothing can compare to seeing it on stage. When intermission came, I was sad that it was already more than half over and that's always a good sign. There's something divine about the story that inspires the human spirit. I honestly had goose bumps through most of it and could see so many parallels throughout the storyline. In talking about it afterwards, I realized that one of my favorite parts was the underlying theme of grace. I love that word and all that it means in my life. I love that Valjean's life was spared by the grace of the priest and Valjean in turn offers that same grace to his enemy Javert. I love the imagery of a sweet mother sacrificing everything for her daughter. I could probably go on for hours about the pieces, parts, characters, and music that touched me. I loved it all and can't wait to see it again. . .SOON. The evening is definitely going to make the official list of "Top 10 Things I Did in 2007".

I agree that it is one of the best plays ever. The music, moving set and everything is great. I look forward to seeing it again someday. After Cub Papa saw it he was willing to take me to another he enjoyed it so much. (That's big because there is no balls, bats, scores or anything athletic in it?)

I've seen it twice when the Broadway touring group came to SLC! My fav for sure. Even my husband loves this one!!! Just don't ask Loveless #3 to listen to the soundtrack on the trip to Lake Powell--I guess the line has to be drawn somewhere.
