Not So Skinny Jeans

I've been thinking a lot lately about something. . .it's actually something that has been bothering me for a while & I'm not certain how to voice (or even if I should) my concerns. I figure this is probably the most open forum and hopefully the most understanding/sympathetic. Besides--JCL requested a post to get him through a boring class tonight & this seemed as good a time as any. The thing is that I can't wear skinny jeans. Why do they call them that anyway? they certainly don't make me look skinny. Maybe it's because only skinny people (at least 5'9") can wear them. I know, I know, I should be concerned about the state of the economy, political agendas, or the plight of children in 3rd world countries. I know, already! It's just that with the appearance of skinny jeans I've officially seen another fashion trend come semi-full circle & this time around I can't jump on the bandwagon. I've feared it for years & now I'm officially out of the "cool" group. Not only is my body uncooperative, but my mind is repelled by the thought of skinny jeans. . .though I've been known to keep a pair of fat jeans in my closet for emergencies--the skinny version eludes me.

Don't get me wrong, I know lots of people who can totally wear them & I think they look just fine. In fact, I'm a little bit jealous of their trendy trousers & the attitude that accompanies them. I suppose I'm just going to have to work through this style conundrum, pull myself out of the fashion mire, and face the fact that hot and classy is just as fabulous as hip & skinny.
