Look to the light. . . Oh, I meant the right --->

It's finally happened. I have officially lost my good sense. It was bound to happen. I mean, years of inhaling floral related aerosols, brother's endless attempts to smother me with a pillow, and lots of conversations with myself (I live alone, remember). Sister Laura has persuaded (a.k.a. guilted) me into running a marathon--the Ogden Marathon to be exact. I know I've said this before. I've set the goal. I've sent it out to the blogging universe, BUT this time there's a registration confirmation and a $80.00 fee with my name on it. Take a look to the sidebar and you will see the official countdown to race day. I'm like Jack Bauer looking at a ticking time bomb--hoping to shed a few pounds and run a few miles before everything explodes in front of my very eyes!!! Heaven help me--really, I'm serious. HEAVEN, HELP ME!!!

So, I'm working on a training plan and warning you all in advance that the next 7 months might be full of lettuce, blistered feet, and intense perspiration. I am also warning you that I am committed to doing this. I hope you won't mind the inevitable posts here at WFB about how I'm doing, where I'm running and how setting a seemingly unattainable goal and working toward reaching it is changing me. I really hope you won't mind. Maybe I should ask Studio 5 if they want to make my 7 months to 26 miles a special interest segment--chronicling my journey to certain stiffness. Who wouldn't want to see a 30-something "normal" woman's struggle to self mastery unfold before their eyes?

At any rate, I start tomorrow. Week 1 of training DOES not involve a treadmill OR finding a personal trainer (though I'm keeping up with my consistent workouts). Week 1 is all about setting my motivation schedule. As I type, my 26.2 stickers are printing--ready to hang inside my pantry and refrigerator. I will be renewing my subscription to Runner's World, setting weekly goals, and checking out a new book of inspiration from the library. AND, if things go well, I'll be running this week with Kimmy in the great state of Massachusetts. Yep, a little fall getaway to see Kimmy & Co. is forthcoming.

On your mark. Get SET. GO.
