The Way We Were
You have to back to THIS post and read the comments. CLASSIC.
I saw The Time Traveler's Wife last night. I didn't hate it, but I certainly didn't love it either. There seemed to be a high ratio of bare bottoms to movie scenes. Not that I don't love me a good backside, but this was overkill. I don't recommend paying to see it in the theater, but it would be a decent Red Box rental.
The best thing about the movie was Rachel McAdams--who I think is DARLING.
1. Kimmy and I like to go the occasional matinee.
2. Kimmy and I smuggle in treats. We like to see how much we can fit into our purses. Today I was able to fit a diet dr. pepper and a bag of microwave popcorn in my bag. . .with room to spare. Kimmy had some spillage in her satchel, but no permanent damage.
3. Sometimes we enjoy listening to the audience laugh almost as much as we enjoy the movie.
4. Fact: movie theatres are always freezing. I'm suggesting they begin serving hot cocoa or provide blankets and pillows (like airlines).
5. I love the smell of movie theatres.
6. How many calories in a large bag of movie theatre popcorn?
7. Could I walk from movie to movie throughout the course of a day without anyone stopping me? Are there hidden cameras, movie bouncers? This seems to be a questions a Park might know the answer to.
8. I am still dying to see Ocean's 13! Oh, and next week's premier of No Reservations with Catherine Zeta-Jones. She is darling.
9. Anyone hear about the movie based on the true story of a girl who went on a long run and injured her foot? I think she also stays up too late blogging. . .making her cranky. It's suppose to be a blockbuster thriller. . .we'll have to wait to hear what the critics say. Night!
Waffle Wednesday was simply splendid. We met some new friends and enjoyed the most amazing chocolate chocolate chip waffles in the history of waffles. Afterwards, we met at the Scera Outdoor Theatre for a movie. I LOVE the outdoor theatre. Actually, I love anything outside on a summer evening. Great night. Great friends. Great Waffle Wednesday.
Remember how my last car was named Redford? Remember how KWag & I skipped class to hear him speak in the De Jong concert hall when we were freshman? I'm not exactly sure where my facination with Robert Redford began, but I'm quite certain it stemmed from a few late night viewings of The Way We Were. I love that movie. I love Robert rowing. I love his hair and his uniform. I love that Barbra has her hair ironed. I love that their relationship isn't perfect, nor does it end happily ever after. I love that they live on the beach. There is something unfair about portraying a relationship like that on film. I'm never going to be happy with a husband who comes home from work asking me how my day was and what's for dinner. No, I want to be sitting on my deck wrapped in a terry cloth robe overlooking the beach to see Robert running through sand. I want him on my couch with a v-neck sweater and a pair of jeans telling me how beautiful I am. Yes, I am officially ruined. At any rate, Kimmy and I watched the movie again this afternoon and it renewed my faith in MANkind & sappy romance.
We saw Catch & Release last night. I'm neither here nor there about the film. It was cute, but not cute enough for me to watch again. I suppose if Mark Walberg had been the leading man, it would have taken several steps up on the cute ladder. The guy they used had nappy hair and big teeth.
Last night we went to see We Are Marshall with our neighbors Rusty and Dash (names changed to protect the innocent). I give the movie "2 thumbs up." Probably because I have nothing against predictability. I have nothing against football. I have nothing against my good friend, Matthew and his arms.
Hey--does this picture remind anyone else of a previous post featuring Greg Kinnear? I see a new trend emerging. . .and I think I like it.
We saw Invincible tonight with some friends. Great movie. Great because it was based upon a story about the human spirit and even greater because of Mark Wahlberg's arms. Two little pieces of heaven. For those of you not familiar with Mark's work, remember that his brother is the famous Donnie Wahlberg of New Kids on the Block fame. Kimmy went to their concert and I think she still has a NKOTB t-shirt that she sleeps with.
Mark Wahlberg + Greg Kinnear - magic

Oh my stinkin' wonderfulness. It isn't bad to lust after a Disney character, right?
Anyone who can pull of that hair and those green pants is a winner in my book. Greg, you rock my kelly green world!
