A Tearful Farewell

This is going to sound crazy, but I get attached to clothing. I've had a Michigan sweatshirt in my closet since high school. I still wear the ratty little thing. Another example--I bought pair of green polka dot pants for me and the sisters several years ago. I'm quite certain they've never cared for them. I, on the other hand have treated them much like a 4 year old boy might treat his superman pjs. I hate taking them off. I don't really like to see them go in the wash. I wear them on lazy Sunday afternoons. I've literally worn them ragged. I love them because the fabric is heavy, but not too heavy. They are big and baggy, but not too big. Undoubtedly, they are now ugly, torn, and tattered. Finally, after the self-made slit in the left leg nearly hit my knee, I realized it was time to say goodbye. I rolled them up, said a few words, and tearfully placed them in the garbage. Farewell old friend. . .I already miss you.
