A Fun Factory Friday

There's something a little bit unsettling about admitting to the entire state of Utah that you're goal in life is to try every flavor of cheesecake on the Cheesecake Factory menu. For a glimpse of my admission click HERE. If you're watching closely, you might also recognize a few other familiar faces.

Check these three babies off the list for today!

Presidential Guests

On occasion, Jeff and I prefer to watch the football games from the President's Loge (box to the common folk). On occasion, we get an invitation. On this occasion, we watched the BYU game with Pres. Oaks, Perry, and Scott--oh, and I think Senator Hatch might have to brushed against me at the popcorn table. On occasion, a home win with a good friend is a lot of fun.

Super Fans

What do three hot single chicks do on a typical Friday night? Well, at first glance it would appear that they do exactly the same thing three hot single guys would do. They get their game gear on and head to watch a BYU Basketball game. They cheer, yell at the refs, and spill non-alcoholic caffeine free beverages on the people in front of them, and then head to the nearest & hottest single scene for some eats. Here's the difference. We finished off the night with Diet Dr. Pepper and freshly baked chocolate chip cupcakes. Oh, the joys of being a woman.

Elizabeth & Kimmy are actually flirting with the refs. . .not yelling obscenities.
I'm hoping Kimmy will share some of that blue gum with me.
Check out that defense.
Where in the world is J.C.L? Hint: He isn't wearing a red/white striped hat.

Seek & Find

In honor of yet another marathon completion by both Mark & Jeff this weekend, I've added a special something to WFB that only a true Loveless would appreciate. The first person to find it and comment gets a box of my world famous chocolate chip cookies.

Good luck!

7 Peaks Special

Sometimes the boys need me for an extra fun factor. I don't blame them. In fact, I'm running an end of summer special through September. If you invite me to 7Peaks, I will likely bake you chocolate chip cookies, read your horoscope from "Star" magazine, ride ridiculously dangerous water slides, and walk on hot coals (cement). It's what I do. Granted, there is a small fee attached and an undisclosed reciprocation required. I like to think of this as a symbiotic relationship.

Thanks for a much needed getaway (even if it was only 8 blocks from work).

Loveless # Favorite

Happy Birthday, Mr. Loveless.

You are one of my life's pleasures--mostly because you make me laugh and partly because you are truly good.

Let's imagine that I'm choosing my own olympic dodge ball team. I pick Jeff first.

Running. Living.

This morning was my last canyon run before the race next weekend. I'm going to take it easy this week. In fact, I'm in semi-quarantine--hoping to avoid any accidents, blisters, intestinal diseases, or spores. For my final long rung, I started at South Fork Park, ran down to Bridal Veil, did the switchback and then ran back to my car. It is a beautiful summer day and I decided to just enjoy myself. No timeline, no bridal shower to attend, no distractions.

Every weekend brings a very similar crowd of outdoor enthusiasts (some a bit on the crazy side). Over the past few months, the faces on the trail have become familiar. There's the pair of mid-agers with Lassie, a peppy lady with big earphones, the guy who works down the hall from me, and two die-hard Loveless runners. Usually we just exchange "heys" and head on our way, but today it was fun to run a mile or so with Mark & Jeff on the trail. Let's face it, a great deal of my running motivaton comes from them. I think watching the Salt Lake Marathon for the first time and seeing Mark cross the finish line was when my desire to run more than 3 miles surfaced. They always ask about my training and the last few months, seeing them on the trail has given us a much needed boost to get through the remainder of the run. So, today I felt like a little girl (a slow one at that) running betwen these two powerful runners and it humbled me. Needless to say, their running abilities are well above mine and I knew they were just trotting along at my slow pace to be nice (and I appreciated it). But at the Bridal Veil switchback, I let them loose. It was the most amazing thing. I couldn't believe the power and speed with which they attacked the incline. It was inspiring.

Can you order running bodyguards on eBay? I am definitely going to look into it. Wait--stop the train--I already have 2 awesome running guards--Megan and Jerilyn! Ladies--I'll see you on race day.

The 30 Inferno

It's one amazing birthday miracle that Jeff's shirt didn't catch fire while he held Ryan's birthday cake inferno. 30 candles really make quite the light show. Wow--I can't wait to have one of my own.

Another One Bites the Dust

Happy birthday wishes to Loveless #2.
It's the big 30 today and Ryan is as calm as a cucumber.

Fall Photo Frolic with XTravaganza

As much as I love fall, I do feel some resistance to the temperature change and today my resistance levels were at an all time high. It rained/hailed all morning and, what will likely be my final run through the canyon for the season, was an experience to be remembered. Fortunately, the weather cleared up a bit. . .just enough for a breezy fall photo shoot. Snow on Timp and the leaves beginning their descent made for a perfect evening. Don't even worry, friends. It would appear that we have a few more weeks of fall color up the canyon. You don't want to miss it.

Poor Mark had to strip down to his running gear so we could get some shots worthy to enter in Runner's World. Then he ran back and forth in front of Bridal Veil for a few minutes so I could catch the perfect shot. Gosh, he has great calves.

Yep--that's snow. . .nearly brings a tear to your eye, doesn't it?

Spectacular!

A Very Loveless Lagoon

Yesterday was the second annual Loveless/Virtue Lagoon Adventure. Of course, the Loveless family has a long standing Lagoon tradition and for a group that is easily susceptible to motion sickness--they are DIE HARDS! Last year Calli and I were the sole riders. We went on everything and waved sweetly to the boys who were patiently sitting on the benches. This year, with Little Willy on the way, Calli was benched and I was heartbroken. The good news is that Ryan totally stepped up to the plate and rode almost everything! Truly a modern day miracle of sorts. Even Mark and Jeff improved their ride quota. . .though someone did have to dip into the Loveless Dramamine stash. I figure that at this rate they'll ride everything by the time they turn 70.

I know I said I wouldn't post this picture, but I can't resist. It's the perfect illustration of what a hot day at Lagoon will do to a person who is brave enough to partner up with Michelle on the Lagoon Adventure of a Lifetime! Thanks, Ry. Mark--always the coordinator, kept us right on schedule and full of fluids. Not to mention a brilliant distraction for the little ones. Hey--what's that song he likes to sing with Camilla? I had no idea he was so musically gifted. Oh--and where did all the Laffy Taffys go? I suspect Joe and Mark might have lots of new knock-knock jokes to tell.
Jeffrey and Joe. Oh my cuteness! This is one of the cutest kids (Joe, not Jeff--though he's not to shabby either) on the planet. He's even cuter when he plays with his uncles. What a great family this is!
So another day at Lagoon enters a page in the summer history book. Thanks for a great time, kids! As always, a true pleasure. Maybe next year we can have our western picture taken and I can nab one of those ever-elusive icecream cones.
