Miss Melis

You know how some people just capture your heart and you know that no matter how far you are from one another or the amount of time that passes between visits, you will always love them? Well, that's the case with each member of the GV Compartment. I was reminded this week of my Miss Melis--whose wit, charm, and general flare for life make me smile--even now as I write this. She's the type of person you always want on your team. I think it has something to do with her level head, positive attitude, and a testimony that is genuine and real. She has a handsome husband I have yet to meet (but he is ONE lucky guy) and the sweetest baby (with a super-fab mom).

Party at the Harrisons

Kimmy and I spent an evening this week with one of our favorite families--The Harrisons of Springville way. They are darling. We were especially taken by Mr. Tayson--who is, quite possibly the sweetest thing ever. He really likes the Virtues. Honestly, who could blame him? Julie prepared a lovely dinner and we had a great time reminiscing about old times and looking forward to lots of goodness to come. Look how happy Tayson is! Who could ask for more--spending an evening in the laps of Kimmy & Mickey.
A special thanks to W. Julie, Jared and baby T. for a much needed evening of enj0yment. We had a splendid time and can't wait until our next visit.

I have to admit that I'm not always a great friend. There are people I love who I never talk to. People I lived with. . .people I've cried with. . .people I've laughed with. . .people I miss so much that it hurts. In fact, tonight I was looking out my window and saw two girls sitting at our picnic table laughing and I longed for the days of the Compartment and GV dinners. It made me miss Melissa's hair color escapades and stalking JJ with White Julie. It made me miss Mere and Kimmy and their antics with Bri. You know, there's something wonderful about having friends close by. The people you call when you need help lugging your old twin bed to D.I. The people who know the secret knock. You remember the friends who see you without makeup and encourage you and all your silliness. I'm convinced that those are the people I want on my heavenly dodge ball team. . .those are the people I hope know that--despite my friendship delinquency, I love them.

Special Delivery

It's official. White Julie is the first of the compartment to be a mom. Tayson Jared Harrison has arrived. 7lb 15oz. Congrats, Jules & Jared. So excited for you. I can't wait to meet Tayson. We're going to be such good friends. Hugs and well wishes.
