KitchenAid goes Bananas

I just had a serious run-in with my KitchenAid mixer. The thing is that CoCo has recently decreased her banana consumption. . .something about a potassium overdose. Anway, in an attempt to be a domestic diva and avoid wasting food people would kill for in 3rd world countries, I decided to make banana bread for the girls I VT. Sounded like a noble gesture to me. Everything was going perfectly until it came time to add the flour to the mixer. I lifted up the top of the mixer just a bit to dump the flour in and that's when the x*(&^%$ hit the fan--quite literally. I dropped the whole measuring cup of flour into the mixing bowl and couldn't get the mixer turned off. . .FLOUR and banana goo went flying. I have it in my hair, all over my kitchen wall, and everywhere else you can imagine. The Barefoot Contessa on the Food Network makes the KitchenAid look so simple. Nothing ever goes flying when she dumps. In fact, I'm beginning to wonder if I've ever seen her actually put something in the mixer. I bet she has a stunt double that does it for her. There has to be some secret to KitchenAid success. . .maybe I should read the instructions again. I'm a college graduate for crying out loud. I should be able to handle a basic kitchen appliance, shouldn't I? Guess I had better go do a little bit of cleaning before I have permanent evidence of the mishap. Maybe I'll just wait for CoCo to get home and she can lick the banana off the walls while I look into getting either a bowl guard or a bigger bowl.
