Gardening Season

Have I mentioned lately that I love this time of year? I love to open my sunroof, put on my sunglasses, and let the Passat go. This afternoon we went to the greenhouse in Springville to pick-up mom's hanging baskets. I ordered those little puppies back in January--the 5th to be exact. They are absolutely gorgeous! Just walking into the greenhouse brought back all of the memories associated with my summers at Kesler's Garden Center. You can't beat the smell of peat moss and bark mixing with an array of pesticides. The gardening season brought an entire gammet of emotions. We always had a late spring snow which required an emergency pulling of our nursery stock. Undoubtedly, some gardening "greenie" would forget to turn the hose off and we'd flood the grocery department of the store. And those frigid mornings spent huddled next to the space heater were always a pleasure. J.K. really knew how to treat his employees. Mmmm. . .those were the good old days. I especially loved all of the little old men who came in every morning to hand select their vegetable plants. They always had a wise-crack to make and some of them there were quite the flirts. You know, I became quite the flirting. . .I mean gardening guru. In fact, if anyone has any plant associated questions, give me a call. I might be a little bit rusty, but I keep a Sunset Western Garden Book by my bed as a reference.

Should you plant petunias in the shade or the sun all knowing GARDEN DIVA?

Petunias do better in the sun.
