Haiti Days

Yesterday afternoon we celebrated the first annual Haiti Days sponsored by A Child's Hope Foundation. The Foundation oversees an orphanage in Haiti and facilitates international adoptions. I have been volunteering with the Foundation and was asked a few months ago to assist with Haiti Days--an event intended to unite adopting families, volunteers, and the children whose lives have been changed because of a group of people who truly care. We had a BBQ and then had games and activities for the kids. A special thank you to everyone who helped. Laura and Eric were top notch nametag makers; Ry was ferocious at the tiger bean bag toss; Alicia, Adrienne, Jemma, and Megan--THANK YOU for keeping the paint, fish, and cake flying! Mark took some awesome pictures. . .can't wait to post them. Calli was amazing. . .as always a great party planning partner.

All of the children at the event are quite amazing. They are beautiful, happy, and gentle. I was energized by their spirits and in awe of their parents. In my mind, there is nothing better in life than having the hand of a child in yours. It's especially poignant when the child comes from indescribable circumstances. To the people of A Child's Hope and the families they bring together. . .thank you for allowing us to be a part of your goodness.

For more information about A Child's Hope Foundation--take a look at their website. It's tells a wonderful story and explains how you can become involved. http://www.achildshopefoundation.org/

I'm with Laura - they are cutie pies. Look at Eric - just doing what he does best - helping those little kids. He's the best. Michelle you did do good - even if you had to stay up making those cupcakes til the crack of dawn.

And a BIG thank you from everyone at ACHF to Michelle for all of her hard work and her excellent organizational skills. We appreciate you very much.

I know this is completely unrelated, but have you done any digital scrapbooking?

I've played with it a bit, but I need some guidance. Word on the street is that you're pretty savvy. . .any truth to that? If so, maybe we should have Kimmy watch Sarah while I have a personal consult.

I liked that we celebrated the Haitian kids with hot dogs. Nothing says welcome to America like a good dog.
