Labor Day Extravaganza 2006 Part 1

I'm not exactly sure where to bein describing the perfect Labor Day weekend, but the Eastern Idaho State Fair Parade seems like a good place to start. Saturday morning everyone was up early to make a 6:00 am Wal-Mart run. Have I mentioned lately that I dislike that establishment? I suppose that's a post for another day. I went for a run and then we were off to the parade. We had reserved seating. . .as the Mayor had been out to our designated traditional viewing platform earlier that morning to place the standard white lawn chairs.

I know many of you will be disappointed to hear that after hours of discussion, it was decided that the First Family of Blackfoot would forego riding in the 2006 parade. There were many heartbroken city folk, but when it came down to it, the Mayor felt his presence might be a distraction. The funny thing was that this morning's paper noted that he rode in the parade with the county commissioners. I'm hear to tell you that the Blackfoot Morning News could use a new reporter or two.
Please note the Mayor's shades. All celebrities have to disguise themselves somehow. Unfortunately, the clowns can see behind the disguise. . .

There's nothing better than a parade of white trash. The bull in the back of an Astro Van was one WT highlight. A float dedicated to the SHS--State Hospital South was another eye-opening moment. Lots of laughs when the barrelmobile succombed to a flat-tire just 3 blocks into the parade route.
We love the parade. Maybe next year we'll strap on our obscene t-shirts and ride a tissue covered flatbed down Shilling with the rest of Blackfoot's finest. Thanks for another great parade. I wonder where DP the unicyclist was. . .hmmm, I hope he didn't get run over by the pot smokin' pooper scooper. Now that would be a EISF Parade to remember!
Eric highlight picts to follow.
