Footprints in the Cement

Very few people will know what this picture is and even fewer will understand what it represents. A few weeks ago when I was in Blackfoot, I heard that grandpa was in BIG trouble. Apparently, he had decided to replace the cement walkway connecting the back door to the driveway. This "little" project involved Wally at the jackhammer and several tons of cement removed via truck. Unfortunately, with the replacement came the inevitable destruction of a McNeel landmark.

When the original cement was laid. . .I suppose over 40 years ago, each of my aunts and uncles left their footprints in the cement. Kind of like a Blackfoot version of Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood.

Needless to say, grandma was upset. You know what? I don't blame her. Those footprints represented a wonderful time in her life. Perhaps as long as the footprints were there. . .so were the memories. Grandma--I took pictures. Does that make it hurt any less? I hope so. LOVE YOU.

Well let me tell you the story. Mother was mad as a little white hen and Uncle Wally and Brandon had to do the jack hammering. Wallace said that it just crumbled and wasn't any way to save them.

I told him to make a mold of them so we could all have a copy of our little footprints. Thanks for at least taking pictures!! I would like one. He is a poop!!!

Why do little white hens get mad? Are they jealous of the little black hens?

Now that is an interesting question!!! Ask grandpa Worth about that one - I think that is where I heard it. Matter-of-fact I will ask the grandfather myself. Black hens? HUMMMMMMMMMMM.
